2008 SKMC 18-Hour Race Directions/Camping Information
Location of race will be in the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest. Directions to Ottawa Lake (if racers need trail pass, vehicle stickers or camping): From Chicago, take Hwy 12 north to Lake Geneva. Hwy 12 merges with Hwy 67. Take Hwy 67 north about 25 miles to Ottawa Lake. From Madison or Milwaukee, take I-94 to exit 282, the Oconomowoc / Hwy 67 exit. Take Hwy 67 south about 8 miles to Ottawa Lake Recreation Area.
Mandatory pre-race meeting and race start/finish will both be at the Mackie Picnic area. To get to Mackie form Ottawa lake, take Hwy 67 south of Ottawa lake 0.3 miles. Then go left or east on Hwy ZZ. Take Hwy ZZ one mile until you get to the Mackie Picnic area - entrance will be on your left/north side of Hwy ZZ. Remember if you do not have them, you can get your bike trail pass and State park sticker at Ottawa lake. Have the trail pass dated for Saturday, October 11th. Registration is at 4-7:30 pm Friday at Mackie. Race meeting will follow at 8pm.
Ottawa Lake has nice camping facilities, hot showers and a nice small lake. You might want to get a site for Saturday night.
