April 23, 2014 - According to the DNR, the mountain bike trails are "very close" to being open and it will likely depend on how much rain the area receives tonight/tomorrow. We will hopefully know for certain by Friday but for now, plan to be mountain biking, bring your WI State Trail pass if you have one, or be prepared to purchase one on race morning for $4, and choose your bike accordingly. We'll update you with what we know on Friday, but it could be a race-day decision by the DNR.

April 21, 2014 - We're very happy to report that the ice has broken and you will be paddling this Saturday! As of yesterday, the mountain bike trails remained closed but we'll continue to update you and hope that another week may dry them out enough to open them for the season. Race day is looking to be very nice, high of 50 and mostly sunny, so if you were still on the fence about joining us, the weather won't be a good excuse not to race! We'll be keeping registration open but please email us at elkbonesracing@gmail.com if you plan to join us so we can have enough maps, passports, food, etc for all racers.

April 11, 2014 - Racer Update #1 is now available! Please read through this update carefully and share it with all teammates. Note that each racer must have a signed waiver before you can receive any race materials at check-in. Download your waiver by clicking on the PDF above.

April 1, 2014 - Thought your chance for a discount at the Chasin' The Bone race expired
yesterday? April Fools! For those of you racing 180 Adventure's Stubborn Fool this
weekend you can still get the reduced rate by bringing your
registration and payment on Saturday and registering in person with race
director Mike Prucha, who will be racing in the Fool along with you.
Email elkbonesracing@gmail.com with any questions. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

March 21, 2014 - We're doing things a little differently here at Elkbones Adventure Racing and sharing some usually highly guarded information about the Chasin' The Bone Race. We're pretty excited to let you know that you'll be competing on the infamous Greenbush Cat Maps! That's
right, you'll be
navigating on the same maps used by the Badger Orienteering Club that
are now world famous and the host of the WI State Champs on April 12th.
Even better, Elkbones' navigator extraordinaire, Anthony, will be
setting the State Champs course AND the Chasin' The Bone course. Those of you that have been on this map know that telling you about it in advance isn't going to offer you any help, its full of challenging terrain with never-ending spots to place orienteering markers. But, if you want to practice, the State Champs are a great time to get out there and see the map in person. Go to http://www.badgerorienteering.org/ for more information on the April 12th meet.

March 20, 2014 - Happy Spring! Course prep is coming along nicely despite winter's persistence this year and we have a great race planned for you. Don't forget, early registration discount ends on March 31st so get your team registered soon to take advantage of this great price. We have a few teams signed up already, check out your competition for the cash prizes here. Also, for anyone looking for a great race to open your racing season, one of our favorites, 180 Adventure's Stubborn Fool, is coming up on April 5th. Elkbones will be out there racing along with you and we can tell you from experience that 180 Adventure always puts on a fun but challenging race for all levels - we hope to see you there!

February 23, 2014 - One of these days the snow might melt and temps could get above freezing, but until then we've got some fun updates for the race to brighten your day! We're excited to announce our race swag for the 2014 race is an adventure racing staple we hope you all can use - a Chasin' the Bone buff!

January 2, 2014 - Happy New Year! Elkbones Adventure Racing is excited to welcome you to the Inaugural Chasin' The Bone Adventure Race. We're starting off as an off-shoot of the Wisconsin Adventure Racing Society, hence the use of their website (thanks, Andy McCarthy!) but please direct all race questions to us at the contact information listed above. Registration is now open with an early discounted price of just $90 per racer which gets you a pretty awesome (we hope) 8-hour adventure race, CASH prizes to the top teams, race swag, canoe (or kayak for any solo adventurers) rentals and a post-race meal and drinks. We hope to see you there!
